about the artist
Lauren Rushing is a former art educator and multidisciplinary artist who currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2018, she graduated with a BFA in Art & Design from University of North Texas. Though her main focus was photography most of her life, she now embodies abstract expression through her fibers artwork. When not creating rugs or taking photographs, Lauren enjoys plants and has a deep love for learning.
about the process
When the pandemic arrived, I had severe anxiety much like the rest of the world did. In order to ease my mind, I found myself wanting to create with my hands outside of photography. In 2019, I picked up a tapestry needle and embroidery thread. Now? Fibers and all textiles are my best friends. I find that many of these amazing techniques in art have been forgotten, and I am blessed I found my way across it’s vintage past.
Each piece serves as a channel to a transformative journey, encouraging viewers to connect with their inner selves and embark on a voyage of self-discovery.
